Editing statecharts in itemis CREATE is as intuitive and powerful as in the VSCode and Eclipse editors.
You can easily define states, transitions, and events using a user-friendly graphical interface, with all the advanced features you’re familiar with.
The editor supports features like syntax highlighting, auto-completion, and error detection to help you write and refine your statechart models quickly and accurately. With real-time validation, you can be confident that your models are error-free as you work, while the intuitive drag-and-drop functionality makes it simple to visualize and modify your state transitions.
To create a new statechart in our Cloud Editor, click on Open / My Statecharts in the Toolbar.
Simulating statecharts in itemis CREATE provides an interactive way to test and visualize the behavior of your models directly in the web interface. To start a simulation, simply click the Start Simulation button, located within the statechart editor. Once you initiate the simulation, a popup window will open, giving you full control over the simulation process.
In the popup, you can raise events that trigger state transitions and explore how your statechart responds to different inputs. You can also inspect the values of variables in real-time, allowing you to monitor the current state of your system and ensure everything behaves as expected. Additionally, you can set event payloads to customize the data passed with events, giving you the flexibility to test various scenarios and edge cases.
Code generation in itemis CREATE is streamlined and accessible directly from the web interface. To generate code, simply click the Generate Code button in the toolbar.
Unlike the Eclipse and VSCode editions, where a textual configuration file is used to customize the output, itemis CREATE opens a dialog window that gives you direct access to all available options for the different code generators. This dialog makes it easy to configure your code generation process without needing to manually edit configuration files. For a comprehensive overview of the various options available for each code generator, refer to the Code Generator section (link), where you can find detailed information on all the customization possibilities.

The Statechart Player introduces a new and intuitive way to collaborate with your colleagues in itemis CREATE. By deploying a statechart model as a player, you generate a unique link that you can share with others, granting them read-only access to your statechart model. This feature is particularly useful for sharing your work with team members, stakeholders, or collaborators without giving them full editing permissions.
The Statechart Player not only provides access to view the statechart but also allows your colleagues to simulate the statechart directly from the player interface. This enables them to interact with the model, raise events, inspect variables, and observe how the statechart behaves in real-time, without making any changes to the original model.
If further edits are needed, it’s easy to open the statechart in itemis CREATE to continue refining and updating the model. This seamless integration between the player and the editor makes it simple to collaborate effectively and ensure that your statechart evolves with input from your entire team.
